Conversation and Coffee!

I love, love, LOVE coffee. I think I sometimes even dream about it. Sad, I know. Yet I am not ashamed to admit it. I proudly own my coffee addiction.

Today combined a few of my favorite things. One being coffee of course. I met some friends at a local coffee shop. They also happen to make some of the best pastries too. They have a cute play area for little ones as well. Could a mother ask for more? I don't think so!

With the rush of Christmas and my list of never ending things that need to get done, this was a much needed break. For one glorious hour I was able to sit and chat with friends. I enjoyed a great cup of coffee and a breakfast pastry. All this while my youngest played quietly with the other kids in the play area right next to our table.

I wish I could start each day this way. It was rejuvenating.

Coffee Craft

If you are like me you cannot live without your morning cup of coffee. Some days it is more like 2 or 3 cups…

Any way, I came across a fun recipe that uses your used coffee grounds. I plan to try it out with the kids this week.

Treasure Stone Craft

Make a fun stone using this recipe. It even has a hidden treasure inside.

Materials Needed:
1 cup flour
1 cup used coffee grinds
1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup sand
1 cup water

Instructions: Mix all dry ingredients together. Slowly add the water to make a stiff dough; you might end up using only half the water - add it slowly or your dough will be too runny!! Knead on a floured surface until fairly smooth. Break the dough into desired rock sizes. Hide toys and surprises in the center of a ball of dough. Set in a safe place until totally dry. At least 3 - 4 days.

Once it is dry, the dough will look and feel like a rock. You can carefully break open the home-made rocks with a hammer to reveal the hidden treasures inside.
