Facts About Mothers

I was wondering aimlessly around the web this evening and came across some interesting facts that I thought was worth sharing.

There are 2 billion mothers in the World (82.5 million in the U.S.)

First-time Moms: Average age of new moms is 25, vs. 21 in 1970

Kids: Modern moms average 2 kids (1950s: 3.5 kids; 1700s: 7-10 kids)

How many diaper changes will a baby have by their 2nd birthday?? 7,300 !!! I had 2 children so the lowest number of diapers I have changed is a staggering 14,600. Wow...

Speaking of diaper changes... there is even a documented changing speed for Moms and Dads. Moms take 2 minutes, 5 seconds (adds up to 3 40-hour work weeks each year!) , vs. 1 minute, 36 seconds for dads. I'd love to know how these statistics were made...

This bit of information is my favorite. I can say that it is 100% accurate too. Since I am a mother to a preschooler I was not surprised to read that they require mom's attention once every 4 minutes or 210 times a day!!! It is a miracle we can still stand and even smile at the end of the day isn't it?

Lastly I had to share this little bit of mom trivia. It made me laugh...

How do mothers multi-task in the bathroom? Read on if you really want to know...

Reading is the most common activity, followed by talking on the phone, meditating, watching TV, drinking coffee, eating and balancing the checkbook.

Well now - no wonder I am so darn tired at the end of the day! That's a lot of attention these wee ones require. :)
